The US government’s statement was Benjamin Netanyahu’s reaction. He threatened the Lebanese people and spoke of “destruction and suffering like in the Gaza Strip”.
Regarding Israel’s military operations in Lebanon, the US government is warning of war-like conditions in the Gaza Strip. “I’m very clear that there should be no military action in Lebanon similar to the Gaza Strip and leave a result similar to the Gaza Strip,” US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said when asked.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously threatened the Lebanese people that the country is on the brink of “a long war” that will lead to “destruction and suffering like the Gaza Strip”. To prevent this, he asked the Lebanese people to free themselves from Hezbollah fighters.
Miller stressed that “neither Israel nor the United States or any other state in the region” can dictate to Lebanon which governs the country.
