After severe storms devastated large parts of Austria on Friday evening, the all clear has now been given. On Sunday, Geosphere Austria issued a heat warning, but no severe weather warning. It mainly affects southern Styria on Sunday and then all of eastern Austria on Monday.
Flooding in Austria’s western Styria, flight cancellations in Schwechat, stranded train passengers and more than 200 fire brigades called out in Lower Austria alone were the result of storms that ravaged Austria from Friday to Saturday. There are currently no severe weather warnings for Sunday. It should last until the beginning of the week.
Swimming lakes are often above 20 degrees
Sunday starts with a mild ten to 20 degrees. The few remaining clouds and early morning fog fields will clear soon and then the sun will appear. Some cumulus clouds then originate from mountains. Thunderstorms in the afternoon are not to be avoided. In principle, the weather conditions are more stable than the last few days. Winds are light to moderate. Temperatures range from 24 to 32 degrees during the day.
The maximum temperature will be in the east. Carinthia recorded a maximum temperature of 32 degrees (as of 4 pm) on Saturday. Austria’s bathing areas from Attersee via the Kloppener See or the Ossacher See had temperatures of 21 to 26 degrees on Saturday. If you want something more refreshing, take a swim in Lake Hallstatt or Lake Aachen. Both the lakes had a temperature of 18 degrees on Saturday.
Local thunderstorms in the west
The new week often begins with sunshine. A few cumulus clouds mixed in, but many remained unaffected. Localized warm thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon, except in the west. Winds will be light to moderate. In the morning it will be between 13 and 21 degrees. It should be between 28 and 34 degrees on Monday, with higher values in the east and southeast.
