An Israeli army lieutenant general says Hezbollah will receive a “very strong response” later today.
Israel is preparing for a ground attack in Lebanon. This is what Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi of the Israeli army says, according to a report by the online media “The Times of Israel”. Airstrikes over the past few weeks have helped prepare for the invasion and continue attacks on Hezbollah.
Shia militants fired a rocket at the headquarters of the Israeli secret service Mossad in Tel Aviv on Wednesday morning. Halevi said he would “get a very strong response” later in the day. He called on his troops to prepare for a “possible incursion” into Lebanon: “Your military boots will enter enemy territory, enter villages that Hezbollah has turned into military bases,” the lieutenant general told his troops.
An Israeli military spokesman described the rocket fire as an “escalation”. An Israeli military spokesman said it was the first time a Hezbollah rocket had reached the Tel Aviv area. Hezbollah is “clearly trying to escalate the situation.” Pro-Iranian militants earlier said they had fired a Kader 1 rocket “targeting the Mossad headquarters on the outskirts of Tel Aviv”. Israel’s foreign intelligence headquarters “responsible for the assassination of administrators and the explosion of pagers and wireless devices.” At least 39 people were killed and nearly 3,000 injured in the blasts earlier last week.
