Bomb threats: Linz authorities await Swiss files

As of Thursday, the lead public prosecutor’s office in Linz had no information from their Swiss colleagues. A spokesman for the responsible public prosecutor’s office in the province of St. Gallen said the documents had only been sent by post to Austria on Wednesday. The results of the search of the house and the interrogation of the suspect are not yet available in Linz. The reasons for not imposing pre-trial detention are also unknown. When asked by APA, a spokesperson for the Swiss public prosecutor only confirmed that Austria’s requests for legal aid had been completed “to carry out the requested procedural steps”.

Since the Swiss authorities will not extradite the fellow, the Linz public prosecutor’s office has also submitted an application to prosecute. A Swiss spokesman said it was “noted”. However, a decision cannot be made at this time as the files and evidence required for the case have not yet been submitted as per the “additional agreement”.

In Linz they said their Swiss counterparts could also request this. However, it is assumed that the Swiss can take over the case after the Swiss have already taken another case against the suspect. The 20-year-old allegedly made threatening calls as early as 2022.
