Linus Strasser took the half-time lead in the Schlathming slalom, with Kitzbühel winner cheering. The German night race winner from 2022 was one-tenth of a second clear of his first pursuer Timon Haugen from Norway after Wednesday's first round. Three-time season winner Manuel Feller was already 1.04 behind in eighth place, and the discipline leader was almost seven tenths off the podium.
The day after a surprising second-place finish in the giant slalom, Feller didn't have a flawless run on a rainy plan. The Tyrolean did not attribute the deficiency to the precipitation that began before him, but rather to an overly aggressive material system.
The other Austrians did not come into the limelight for the time being in front of a sold-out crowd (22,500 spectators) in Styria. Dominik Raschner (+2.29), Adrian Bertl (+2.32), Fabio Gistrin (+2.60) and Johannes Strolls (+2.85) were in the bottom third of the rankings after 30 runners. Michael Matt is missing due to a flu-like infection.
