Sweco Announces new Vertical
Roller Mill
Florence,
KY -- Sweco announces the Vertical Roller Mill, VRM, as the
latest in revolutionary roller mills designed by Ecutec and
now marketed by Sweco as a result of the recent acquisition
of Ecutec S.L. headquartered in Barcelona, Spain. It
represents a significant step forward in the quest for more
efficient fine grinding of soft to medium-hard materials.
Designed for continuous operation, the basic concept of the
VRM is based on the combination of a high quality mill body
and the highly efficient TC and Alpha classifiers. The mill
body is designed with 2 or 3 rollers and can work with
standard gear boxes. Due to an innovative and integrated
bearing system of the roller table, this mill does not need
any reinforcement on the gearbox itself, reducing delivery
time and minimizing maintenance.
The
VRM is the solution for fine grinding and classification of
a wide variety of materials including, but not limited to
calcium carbonate, dolomite, talc, bentonite, barites,
petroleum coke, calcium oxide and gypsum.
With
more than 60 years of separation technology experience,
Sweco serves the pharmaceutical, chemical, food, minerals,
paper and many other industries with a complete line of
separation, sizing and milling equipment.

Next-Generation 'StackCell'
Flotation Technology
Erie,
PA -- Eriez, once again demonstrating its leadership and
innovation in technology for the minerals industry,
introduces new, StackCell advanced flotation technology.
According to Eriez, the new device will provide
metallurgical results superior to conventional mechanical
cells while offering benefits similar to that of column
flotation cells.
Jaisen
Kohmuench, Manager-R&D Process Group, explains, “Eriez
developed this new flotation technology based on flotation
fundamentals with an emphasis on: carrying capacity
restrictions, circuit design for cell mixing, lower
retention times and more efficient sparger design.”
According to Kohmuench, Eriez flotation technology offers
distinct advantages over column flotation and conventional
cells. He says, “The efficiency of this flotation device
surpasses that which can be achieved by other individual
techniques or separators.”
Eriez
has already received a purchase order for a three-stage unit
to treat 45 tph. According to Eriez, it was put into
operation at their customer’s facility this past May.
Kohmuench explains that by utilizing StackCell in this
application, the customer will enjoy many advantages that
would not be possible with traditional units.
Kohmuench said, “Using column flotation technology, this
would have required two 14-ft diameter by 28-ft tall cells
with two compressors with the installed HP of at least 410
HP. The new three-stage device will treat the same material
in less than half the volume, one third the footprint and
one-third the installed power.” He goes on to say, “Results
may be even more significant as these are conservative
numbers.”
This
new Eriez technology is ideal for use in a wide variety of
applications, including those involving fast floating coals
or overloaded conventional cell circuits.
