Clyde Process Solutions acquires MAC Equipment

Kansas City, MO -- MAC Equipment, one of North America’s leading providers of pneumatic conveying and air filtration solutions, has entered an exciting new phase in its development.

Last year, MAC Equipment was acquired by Clyde Process Solutions Plc, a UK-listed company who also own and operate Clyde Materials Handling, a leading provider of pneumatic conveying and pneumatic injection solutions targeted predominately at the metals and minerals markets.

Clyde Process Solutions acquired MAC Equipment in April 2007 and has now integrated the conveying and injection technologies of Clyde Materials Handling with MAC Equipment to establish a powerful provider of process technologies for the North American market.

In an effort to strengthen MAC’s position as a market leading provider of process solutions, they have made the decision to enhance their brand and identity. The new MAC Equipment brand retains the characteristics that have helped build their business in the process industry, while incorporating the brand assets inherited from its parent company, Clyde Process Solutions.

MAC Equipment’s new brand was launched at the PTXi Show in Chicago last month, which was warmly received by all. Through the integration of Clyde Materials Handling’s US operations with MAC Equipment, MAC can now offer the process industry a wide range of material handling and air filtration solutions.

The union of MAC Equipment and Clyde Materials Handling has created a process solutions provider who is focused on improving the efficiency and productivity of their key customer markets and who is committed to setting the industry standard for innovation, product quality and customer service.

New Meyer Pneumatic Screw Pump

Libertyville, IL -- The Meyer Pneumatic Screw Pump is a heavy duty dry materials injection pump designed to feed dry pulverized material into a pneumatic conveying line.

The Screw Pump can handle highly abrasive, friable or very fine powders that wear out other dilute phase feeders. Unlike rotary airlocks that require tight clearances to seal against conveying air, the Screw Pump uses the material to form the seal.

Benefits include increased conveying rates with less air; no blowback, even when running empty, increased wear resistance to abrasive materials, low profile, longer bearing life with fewer system shutdowns, and overall reduced operating and maintenance costs.

Applications include the chemical, cement and mining industries where the Screw Pump’s design significantly reduces abrasive wear; minimizing maintenance and unplanned, costly downtime.

A new 12 page brochure is now available detailing the features and specifications of the Meyer Pneumatic Screw Pump. Contact Meyer today to request a copy of this detailed brochure.

Wm. W. Meyer & Sons, Inc. is a world leader in the manufacture of dry bulk material processing equipment, pneumatic conveyors, dust collectors, insulation blowing machines and vacuum collection systems. Rulmeca Opens Manufacturing Plant in China

Tianjin, China -- Rulmeca, the international leading manufacturer of rollers and motorized pulleys for belt conveyors, celebrated the opening of the Rulmeca manufacturing Unit in China in Tianjin on the 22nd of May 2008.

In front of about 80 guests, including customers, suppliers, local authorities and all the Rulmeca Group Board of Directors, Rulmeca celebrations started with the speeches of Mr. Seng Kwang Heng, Asia Pacific M.D., Mr. Emilio Moreschi, President of Rulmeca Group, Mr. Fabio Ghisalberti, Managing Director of Rulli Rulmeca, Mr. Goh Ching Beng, General Manager of Rulmeca Tianjin and Mr. Li Wen Yong, the XEDA Labor Committee Deputy Secretary.

In the name of Rulmeca Mr. Emilio Moreschi first expressed condolences to the victims of the strong earthquake that hit the Sichuan area and supported the earthquake victims with a donation.

Then, the day was welcomed as the birth of Rulmeca Tianjin, the 11th manufacturing facility of the Rulmeca Group in the world and the second in Asia, a natural development following Rulmeca important geographic expansion strategy in the world.

The growth and opening of China economy offer enormous opportunity to multinational companies like Rulmeca. For Rulmeca that has made of the internalization a must in the last 10 to 15 years, China could not stay out the view.

The strategic choice to open a manufacturing facility in China for Rulmeca comes from far away. The Rulmeca program in China has long roots as it started in 1985 when the company closed license agreements with 3 Chinese companies. But then times were not matured enough for both China and Europe.

The new facility in Tianjin will strengthen Rulmeca position in Asia and will provide a platform for continued growth in the region. Rulmeca strategy is crystal clear: The Company will produce top quality, world class rollers and motorized pulleys for the bulk handling industries from coal mining to cement plants, from fertilizer plants to sugar and rice mills, from seaports to airports.

New Economical ‘Spirostore’ Flexible Silos

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Spiroflow Systems, Inc. has introduced a new, economic range of flexible silos that provide tailor-made solutions for quick, efficient and safe storing of bulk solids and ingredients in most industries.

Unlike steel or aluminum silos, the new ‘Spirostore’ Flexible Silos are made of a robust, durable and yet flexible polyester fabric supported on a steel frame. The silos can store up to 7,000 ft3 of dry bulk material and support weights up to 90,000 lbs.

The flexible silos are manufactured like a custom-made suit in terms of shape, size and the type of polyester fabric selected. These are adapted to suit each customer’s specific requirements in terms of space available, exact product specifications and how the product should be discharged. According to Spiroflow Systems, no other bulk solids storage system can match the flexibility of flexible silos.

The silos are suitable for almost any indoor or other weatherproof location and can be connected to any type of Spiroflow Flexible Screw, Aero Mechanical, Pneumatic, and Vacuum Conveyor Systems to fill and/or empty the stored material.

‘Spirostore’ Flexible Silos are ideal for use in the plastics, recycling industry, chemical, pharmaceutical as well as sectors of the food, animal feed and sweets industry. Materials that can be stored are equally varied and range from trouble-free peas and polystyrene balls to interlocking materials such as baking flour, color pigments and clumping materials such as tea leaves, fiberglass and shredded wool.

“Spirostore Flexible Silos allow our customers to quickly and economically expand their storage capability of bulk solids material in a way no other silo can,” confirms Michael Podevyn, President and CEO of Spiroflow Systems. “That’s one of the main reasons why these type of silos are generating so much interest. The silos are about one third the cost of a steel silo with similar capacity, are lightweight and are very easy and fast to install. They are delivered ‘flat pack’ making it possible to pass through regular doorways and take up a minimum amount of space.”

The main part of the ‘Spirostore’ Flexible Silos is the high strength, durable polyester fabric supported by a steel frame. The fabric is custom designed to meet the exact characteristics of the customers’ product and to maximize the storage capacity in the available space. A variety of other fabric options are available to meet product requirements. These include a breathable fabric that prevents condensation, air-tight versions, coated and uncoated versions, fabrics for use in food applications, electrically conducting versions for safe discharge of electrostatic charges plus numerous others.

Among other benefits of the ‘Spirostore’ Flexible Silos are its high rigidity values and load capabilities with seven-fold safety for seams and fabric, robust and durable construction for long life, its safe system function with low operating and maintenance costs, and the fact that it is easy to clean, making it very flexible for all-round use.

Spiroflow also provides turnkey plant construction from engineering to installation including electronic controls for filling level, weighing, conveying and dosing.

Mr. Green wants help with load cells and LIW feeder:

I have a volumetric feeder and want to turn it into a loss in weight feeder.

I plan on using three load cells and I was wondering about the placement of the load cells to ensure equal loading on all of them. The unit is not symmetrical, since the motor sits on one side.   (to post reply, click here)
