Lectures :
Upgrade your Solids Flow Knowledge
Tyngsboro,
MA -- Proper training of personnel involved in solids
handling and processing is essential to operating an
efficient and reliable bulk solids handling system. Since
the theory of bulk solids handling is seldom a part of
formal engineering training, many in industry lack an
understanding of why solids handling problems occur and what
practical steps can be taken to diagnose, alleviate, or
prevent them.
Furthermore, different bulk
solids testers are available to characterize various
properties of powders, yet many people are unfamiliar with
which properties are critical or how to apply the test
results for quality control purposes or hopper design.
This one-day seminar will
provide solid insights into common flow problems that arise
when powders and bulk solids are put into silos, bins, and
hoppers. Ways to characterize a material's flow properties
will also be demonstrated in our laboratory, along with a
discussion of proven, practical, and cost effective design
solutions. Available July 22 or 23 or August 12 or 13.

Martin : New Architecture for
Modern Conveying
Neponset
IL -- Martin Engineering, the leading international supplier
of systems and services to improve the handling of bulk
materials, has introduced a new standard for the design and
construction of belt conveyors.
Martin
Engineering has designed a dust accumulation resistant
system. The EVO™ System uses a new engineering concept to
produce clean, safe, and productive belt conveyors from the
ground up. Flat surfaces, where dust can accumulate, are
eliminated.
“The
EVO Modern Conveyor Architecture offers a complete and
re-thought system that is cost competitive with conventional
design standards, yet that will provide improved performance
in cleanliness, service-friendliness, and safety,” said R.
Todd Swinderman, Chief Technology Officer for Martin
Engineering.
The
EVO Modern Conveyor Architecture is designed to provide
complete zones of a belt conveyor, including the Tail Zone,
the Load Zone, the Carrying Zone, and the Head Zone. At this
time, only the Load Zone of the EVO™ Standard has been
introduced. Other zones will be introduced in the next 18
months.
The EVO Modern Conveyor Architecture System is composed of a
set of engineered components to be combined into a belt
conveyor system. The components can be installed
individually, in combination to construct each zone, or in a
full new conveyor. They are suitable for use in new
construction or retrofit applications. This new architecture
is upgradeable to meet any future material handling
challenges, and it exceeds safety, environmental, and design
codes and regulations.
Many
EVO Components are protected by US and International patents
issued and pending.

Intersystems opens new
manufacturing facility in Omaha
Omaha,
NE -- Intersystems, a division of Houston-based Enduro
Systems, Inc. (ESI), formally opened its new
state-of-the-art, 140,000 square-foot facility located at
9575 N. 109th Ave., just east of Blair High Road.
Intersystems is the anchor tenant in the new Rainwood Pointe
office park. A dedication ceremony was held at the Company's
facility this afternoon.
ESI President and CEO Walter
Greig said, “Previously, our Intersystems team was scattered
among four separate buildings in two locations throughout
the Omaha area. With the construction of our new facility,
we're able to have all 150 employees for both plant and
office operations in one location with space for future
growth. This project wouldn’t have gone as smoothly as it
did without the help of the Greater Omaha Chamber.”
ESI contacted the Chamber’s
Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership in 2006 as
they began investigating options to consolidate the
Intersystems division. Site locations under consideration at
that time included Omaha, Council Bluffs and Houston.
“Our new building was designed to
reflect the ESI and Intersystems forward-thinking business
model," added Greig, “which incorporates World Class
Manufacturing concepts with environmental, health and safety
considerations resulting in an efficient, creative and
comfortable work environment for our team members.”
“Intersystems commitment to
invest in Greater Omaha demonstrates our city's ability to
support large manufacturing-based operations,” said David G.
Brown, President and CEO of the Greater Omaha Chamber.
“Their decision to remain in
Omaha is another example of an established company choosing
to take advantage of our thriving business environment as
well as a testament to the hard work put forth by our
economic development team.”

New Quantum Series 4-Way Wye
Line Diverter
Salina,
KS -- Vortex® Valves will introduce its patented Quantum™
Series 4-Way Wye Line Diverter™ at NPE 2009, Booth S2045.
The new wye line diverter is specifically designed to
eliminate problems in handling dry bulk solids in pneumatic
conveying systems commonly seen in traditional flapper and
rotating tunnel style diverters.
The 4-Way Wye Line Diverter,
available in 2" to 6" (50mm to 150mm) pipe or tube, can
direct dry bulk material from one source to four
destinations, or converge from four sources to one
destination with vacuum or positive pressures up to 15 psig
(1 barg), depending on size and modifications.
The new Quantum series is a
significant design innovation over Vortex’s original Wye
Line Diverter. Vortex utilizes precision laser cutting and
bending technology to manufacture this leading-edge valve.
The patented Quantum design features improved sealing
performance, more weather resistance, higher durability,
easier maintenance, and fewer parts.
The Wye Line Diverter can be
installed quickly and maintained safely within the
production line. The diverter also provides positive air and
material shutoff, eliminating material buildup beyond the
closed port, improving process efficiency.
The Quantum Series 4-Way Wye Line
Diverter offers a wide variety of modifications to
accommodate high or low temperatures, corrosive, abrasive,
outdoor, and hazardous environments.
