New Martin Double Apron Seal
Skirting
Neponset,
IL -- An improved version of Martin Engineering’s
industry-leading Apron Seal™ Skirtboard Sealing system now
provides double the wear life.
New
Martin® Double Apron Seal Skirting provides two wear
surfaces on a single elastomer sealing strip installed along
the bottom of the skirtboard in a belt conveyor loading
zone. When bottom side of the strip against the belt is
worn, the sealing strip is inverted, providing a second
service life.
Skirtboard sealing systems are installed on the sides of
belt conveyor loading zones to contain material, eliminate
spillage, and reduce cleanup expenses. Martin Apron Seal
Skirting was the first dual-sealing system, as it
incorporates a primary seal clamped to the steel skirtboard
to keep lumps on the belt and a secondary or “outrigger”
strip to capture any fines or dust that passes beneath the
primary seal. The secondary seal lies gently on the belt and
self-adjusts to maintain consistent strip-to-belt pressure
despite high-speed material movement and fluctuations in the
belt’s line of travel.
New
Double Apron Seal Skirting is available in lengths up to 300
feet (91 meters) to provide a continuous seal without seams
that leak fugitive material. Martin® Double Apron Seal
Strips can be installed--using the existing clamps-as a
replacement for previous Apron Seal Skirting Systems or many
other skirtboard sealing systems.
New
Double Apron Seal is one of the first products to be
introduced as part of Martin Engineering’s New Architecture
for Modern Conveying.
Founded in 1944, Martin Engineering is the world leader in
making bulk materials handling cleaner, safer, and more
productive. Headquartered in Neponset, Illinois, Martin
Engineering reaches around the world with operations in
Brazil, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, South
Africa, Turkey, and United Kingdom. Martin Products are
available from business units and authorized representatives
around the world.

New Rotoform Line for Urea
Processing
Sandviken,
Sweden -- JSC Acron is to de-bottleneck urea solidification
processes at its Veliky Novgorod facility in Russia with the
installation of a Rotoform HS pastillation line delivering a
throughput capacity of up to 40,000 MTPY.
The order, scheduled for delivery
in March 2009, is for the high speed version of Sandvik
Process Systems' flagship Rotoform pastillation process,
plus the facilities necessary to support an additional two
Rotoform HS lines in the future and increase total capacity
to 120,000MTPY. This includes a common cooling water and
exhaust air system, together with the electrical
instrumentation and controls necessary to provide fully
automatic operation. Sandvik is also providing supervision
of erection, start-up and training.
The Rotoform HS system was
initially developed to provide high capacity sulphur
pastillation at oil and gas refineries. Thirteen lines are
now in operation with another four in production, and such
has been its operational success - including 8400hrs/yr
productivity - that other markets are now taking interest:
this will be the first commercial scale Rotoform HS
installed for urea pastillation.
The system, which can be used to
produce either fertilizer urea or technical urea without any
modification, enables pastilles to be produced in 2mm, 3mm
or 4mm diameters. Multiple lines can be run in parallel to
deliver high throughput capacities and the flexibility to
switch to partial operation without halting production.

Mr. Miller wants to dry 2,000
tons of iron oxide:
I have a 2,000 ton stockpile
of iron oxide stored inside. I would like to reduce the
moisture from 8% to under 2% without moving the pile.
Is it possible to use a
portable dryer to reduce the moisture?
The economics won't permit
transporting the material to a drying facility and this is a
one time project in St. Louis. The size is 80% minus 325
mesh.
