Uzwil, Switzerland -- Buhler has signed a contract worth 35 million Swiss francs with the Scandinavian Cerealia Group for the supply of a new flour milling installation. The facility – one of Europes most advanced – will be located in the Danish city of Vejle. It will further strengthen the position of the Scandinavian market leader.

The Buhler Group signed the contract with the Cerealia Group for the new 35-million flour mill in Denmark at the end of October. The supply includes the complete equipment including the electrical and control systems of two wheat flour mills with grinding capacities of 480 and 240 metric tons a day, respectively, plus a rye mill for 140 tons per day. The contract includes the cleaning section, a flour storage and handling system, and the finished product handling installation. With its new plant, Cerealia Denmark is concentrating its flour production at its site in Vejle.

One of the characteristics of this project is the very high level of automation of the plant, with product retracing and top sanitation standards. In addition, the challenge exists to fit the new building structure into the existing, modern urban appearance of Vejle. Start-up of the flour mill, which is highly sophisticated in terms of both process technology and architectural design, is scheduled for 2007. Once completed, the facility will be the most up-to-date in Europe.

Cerealia belongs to the Swedish Lantmännen agricultural cooperative. With a payroll of 5,100 and total sales (turnover) exceeding 1.5 billion Swiss francs, the company is the absolute market leader in industrial grain processing in Northern Europe. It produces flour, breakfast cereals, bread, and pasta in various countries.
